WORLD IN PRAYER
For those interested in a weekly prayer that incorporates what is happening in the world. Click here where a new prayer is offered every Thursday.
Jesus begins his ministry with a sermon which we call the “Beatitudes.” His audience is mostly made up of regular people, trying to survive in an unjust world. These people would have had much to gripe about. They were not the ones in the center of things with control of wealth and power. Instead of rallying them against an enemy, he helps them see that there is a positive way of looking at their situation. There are things they know about God and life that those who focus on power and greed will never know. There is a reality beyond the one they see immediately before them.
I’m trying to remember that as I witness all sorts of attitudes these days. I don’t have a lot of power to change things I do not like, but I have power over my attitude. When I worship in community, I am reminded to practice a spirit of love, compassion, and kindness and to seek that all people be treated as children of God. These are the ways Jesus changes the world through his teachings, life, death, resurrection and his Body, the Church. I hope you join us in worship as we all seek a beatitude adjustment.
I hope you will join us this Sunday at 10:00am for meaningful worship, thoughtful exploration, and community, as we explore this week’s text together. If you cannot join us in person, we will be attempting to stream this service through Internet Streaming.
Peace,
Reverend Matt Gough

SUNDAY WORSHIP AND WINTER STORMS
We have signed up for an automatic messaging system. Those who wish to receive an automated message when worship services have been canceled please give your name and phone number to the church. You can also click the link for the email here. We will only use this when we are canceling worship or a major church event due to weather hazards. If receiving the phone call your caller ID will be the church number 541-753-2228 and there will be a pause after you answer. It will also leave a voicemail if you do not/are not able to pick up.
We will never send calls out after 8:00pm or before 8:00am. Your numbers are kept confidential and not sold or traded by the messaging company.
Even if we have worship, if it is not safe for you to venture out or you are vulnerable to being gravely injured if you slip and fall, then stay home!
Weekday Winter Weather Policy-If the schools are closed due to weather during weekdays, then our building and church office are closed. All planned events will be postponed canceled, including rooms rented for events.
