It’s On Us Corvallis partners with local restaurants to feed wildfire evacuees
First available meals September 10th, 6:00-8:00pm from Kalamata Bistro Food Truck at Common Fields (545 SW 3rd Street, Corvallis)
It’s On Us Corvallis is partnering with local restaurants, farmers, and other producers to provide meals to displaced Oregon residents who have been affected by the wildfires and to prevent food waste.
Several generous local restaurant owners are showing community support to our neighbors displaced by the fires. IOU is dedicated to reimbursing expenses to whatever extent possible, in an effort to help recoup some lost revenue from yet another devastating economic blow. The community has donated over $4,000 today.
Meals for evacuees will be available tonight, September 10th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Kalamata Bistro at Common Fields, located at 545 SW 3rd Street in Corvallis. Local restaurants that have closed in response to the wildfires and have food that may go to waste are invited to collaborate with Kalamata Bistro at Common Fields prior to 5:30pm. Currently, partner restaurants include:
- Kalamata Bistro
- Cascade BBQ
- La Rockita
- The Brass Monkey
- Bombs Away Cafe
Additional restaurant partners may be added.
Starting tomorrow, September 11th, there will be additional meal distributions by Kalamata Bistro at Common Fields for as long as food is available. The time of meal distribution is yet to be determined, but will be circulated on the IOU social media pages. Van Vleet Meat has generously donated 500 pounds of ground beef to be prepared into burritos by local restaurant staff. Additionally, local farms are asked to contact Kalamata Bistro if they have extra produce that would otherwise go to waste.
IOU is asking for donations to support the businesses and producers that participate in donating these meals to evacuees.
